Who's building this

Anvil is built and maintained by a small, independent team rather than a large company. That means updates ship when they're ready rather than on a quarterly release schedule, and most feature ideas come directly from what people actually ask for through the Support page.

Why spaced repetition

The heat-and-strikes system exists because plain flashcards let you mark something "done" the first time you get lucky, and then you never see it again even if you'd forgotten it a week later. Requiring three correct answers in a row before an item counts as mastered is a deliberate design choice, not a default we inherited from somewhere else.

Why user-submitted topics

Nobody can anticipate every subject someone wants to drill. Letting people build their own topics, with a review step before anything goes public, is how the topic library grows past what any one person would think to add.

How this stays running

Anvil is supported by optional advertising and an ad-free Premium upgrade, not by selling data. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is and isn't collected.
